of the Canon Digital IXUS i7 Zoom
The Canon Digital IXUS i7 zoom is a camera for those who want something that looks good but is also well specified. Whilst the Steel Grey version would not necessarily stand out colour-wise compared to most other digital cameras, the Sizzling Pink, Denim Blue and Sepia versions of this camera are clearly not meant to be hidden away in your pocket or handbag. The body is all-metal and is therefore tough and durable. The resolution is very good at 7.1 megapixels although it's a pity the optical zoom is only 2.4x instead of the more usual 3x. The IXUS i7 uses Canon's third generation processor, the DIGIC III, which incorporates Face Detection AF/AE (auto focus and auto exposure) ensuring pleasing portrait results.
Shooting modes available on the IXUS i7 are Auto, Manual, Portrait, Landscape, Night Snapshot, Color Accent, Color Swap, Stitch Assist, Movie and the special scene modes for difficult lighting condition: Kids & Pets, Indoor, Foliage, Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Aquarium and Underwater. You can then enhance your pictures with the photo effects options: Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, Black & White, Positive Film, Lighter Skin Tone, Darker Skin Tone, Vivid Blue, Vivid Green, Vivid Red and Custom Color. The My Category function organises images according to the categories People, Scenery or Event depending on the shooting mode used and whether or not the camera detected faces in the shot. The same categories are then recognised by the Canon software, ZoomBrowser EX.
A total of 25 languages are supported on the menu: English, German, French, Dutch, Danish, Finnish, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Chinese (traditional), Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Korean, Greek, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Turkish, Thai, Arabic, Ukrainian and Romanian.
The Canon Digital IXUS i7 is compatible with PictBridge printing.
