Canon PowerShot
A400
Review
of the Canon PowerShot A400
The Canon PowerShot A400 is designed to be simple to
use and is therefore suitable for beginners. The number of megapixels,
at 3.2, is more than adequate for a basic point and shoot camera. However,
the optical zoom is not huge, at only 2.2x. Many basic point and shoot
cameras will offer 3x optical zoom, but the Canon PowerShot A400 is retailing
at a very competitive price so don't necessarily be put off by a slightly
lower optical zoom. The optical zoom can be combined with the digital
zoom for a total zoom factor of about 7x. Using the macro you can take
pictures as close as 5cm.
The LCD screen size is 1.5" which, like the optical
zoom, is modest but adequate.
The scene modes included in this camera are Auto, Manual,
Stitch Assist, Movie and Special scene modes (Portrait, Night Scene, Foliage,
Snow, Beach, Fireworks, Underwater, Indoor). The photo effects you can
choose are Vivid, Neutral, Low Sharpening, Sepia
and Black & White.
With this camera you can take movies up to 3 minutes
in length, or up to 30 seconds at VGA quality. Sound recording is available
and also playback and in-camera editing. The camera can be connected to
the TV for viewing your movies.
The Canon PowerShot A400 can be connected to any Canon
Direct Print or PictBridge compatible printer.
There is an optional All Weather Case available for the
Canon PowerShot A400 which offers protection to a water depth of 3m.

Fantastic camera, excellent value for money. The pictures are crystal,
and even though it isn't made for videos, they are great too. I would
recommend this camera to anyone as it is so easy to use and you get fantastic
results!
