I think the G5 is excellent - far beyond its appearance. I have had very
good results with it and the quality is very high. I have used Canon SLRs
for 20 years and this is equal to any SLR that I've used. I haven't yet
used all its possibilities. It is capable of video recording, but only
at 16 frames per second, so I haven't used it for that. Otherwise I have
had no problems.

The G5 is my second digital camera. I was impressed with the quality of
the photos. I have never been a good taker of photos but the G5 is so
impressive even I look good. There is so much it can do with professional
features and excellent results. The only thing that I could think to write
that is negative is sometimes the focus has a mind of its own. Although
that could be me not very familiar with the correct settings. The battery
life is unbelievable, I just take photos and the battery never seems to
run out (not quite true but close). I have had my G5 about 7-8 months
and paid £400 new. My friend has a very expensive Nikkon and in comparison
the two cameras are much closer than the price would have you believe.
The Canon G5 is gets 9/10 from me.

After using an SLR for nearly 30 years I have finally been persuaded to
move to digital. The G5 isn't an SLR, but it does have all the features
that I need. These are good focus control, manual exposure, shutter-priority
and aperture priority, long exposures, macro zoom and top quality lenses.
I am now a convert, although I still keep my old SLR for shooting transparencies.
