Camera is one of the BEST for photos that I've ever owned - excellent
photos, excellent resolution, details, sharpness, etc. Recently bought
a Konica/Minolta Maxxum 5D- it's a good SLR digital, but the Fuji still
out performs in image quality The main issue with the Fuji - and I have
had it for a number of years is that the batteries cannot be kept in the
unit - they run down and are depleted. Removing the compact flash does
not help - I generally leave the camera with the battery door open - just
to keep them from draining down. A big DRAIN - always having to keep track
of batteries

I've had my s7000 for just over a year now and over 9,000 shots later,
it has been an excellent camera. first off is battery life, the batteries
in this thing last for about 500 snaps. the batteries *do not* drain when
the camera is off. picture quality is also very good. jpeg compression
is a little over aggressive, so you can expect a tiny bit of noise in
blue skies, but nothing to shout home about. you can avoid the noise by
shooting in raw mode. the autofocus does not have an assist lamp :( build
quality is excellent. i've dropped my s7000 several times, it's been banged
on rocks, and wet in the rain, and it just keeps on going. one precaution
i did take when i first bought the camera was to buy a filter mount tube,
and keep a uv filter on at all times to protect the extendable lense.
it's never off. would i buy it again? absolutly! here are a few shots
i've taken http://www.kde-look.org/usermanager/search.php?username=fishyfool
fuji has definitely made a great camera in the s7000.

I have owned many digital cameras over the years but the Fuji S7000 is
the best camera i have ever used, the build quality is like a tank the
photos are outstanding there is talk on the web of problems with battery
drain using compact flash cards this only applies to early models it no
longer is a problem, anyone looking for a camera go for this one highly
recommended and also it is easy to use.

I remain shocked that a camera that generally is so superior technically
could be Battery-powered via technology that was just passable ten years
ago. I decided to hang on to my Toshiba PDR-M5 because I know that the
battery is always charged, since I keep it connected to its internal battery
charger. I will keep the S-7000, even though I dislike its primative battery
exchange concept. Frankly, had I been aware of the battery problem, I
would not have bought this camera. Joe Williams
