The Olympus MJU 410 is my first digital camera. I chose it because of
its rugged construction, supposed ease of use and smart looks. It certainly
is well made. The all-metal body with rubber seals is pretty water-resistant.
This is important to me as I take it with me whilst hillwalking and orienteering.
It hasn't been a problem in bad winter weather. It's also a very compact
camera, so carrying it around in a bag or pocket is no problem. Using
the LCD display outdoors is also fine, as it is viewable in all but the
brightest sunlight. The camera takes good pictures, but I don't find it
as easy to use as I expected. Some menu features are difficult and it's
not as easy as other makes of camera. I find that I have to keep looking
things up in the manual. There are too many menus. The replaceable memory
stick is very handy, as is the USB port for transferring pictures to the
computer. The 32 MB stick supplied is just about enough, but I will probably
buy a larger one to take on holiday. The battery also seems to last well.
Finally, the camera looks great, which was also a consideration for me.
In summary, it's good if you want a compact outdoor camera, but has some
shortcomings.
