Review of the Olympus MJU 720SW

The Olympus MJU 720SW, along with the Olympus MJU 725SW, is one of Olympus' waterproof cameras. The MJU 720SW is waterproof up to a depth of 3m. If this is not deep enough for you then look at the Olympus MJU 725SW which is waterproof up to 5m. Both cameras are shockproof from heights of up to 1.5m, but this isn't something you probably want to test too often. Olympus are clearly aiming at durability with these cameras so their worth considering for rugged explorations around the world. The MJU 720SW has a high resolution of 7.1 megapixels and a standard 3x optical zoom lens. The digital zoom is 5x, giving a total zoom of 15x when combined with the optical zoom. The LCD screen measures 2.5" and uses Olympus' BrightCapture Technology, but Olympus have only included 115,000 pixels on the LCD. Other models have 215,000 or even 230,000 pixels, but these are not waterproof. Sensivity settings range from ISO 64 to ISO 400 when in automatic mode and ISO 64 - ISO 1600 is available manually. ISO 2500 is available in some dim lighting modes. The camera has a total of 24 scene modes to choose from. The camera is available in Steel Silver, Polar Blue and Dusky Pink and is clearly an obvious choice for anyone looking for extreme durability in a sleek and compact body.
