Review of the Olympus MJU 740

The Olympus MJU 740 is virtually the same as the Olympus MJU 750 but without the Dual Image Stabilisation feature. In the MJU 740 a high ISO value of up to 1600 helps protect against blurry images. In the MJU 750 this is combined with a mechanical image stabiliser that adjusts the CCD to compensate for camera shake. The metal weatherproof body of the Olympus MJU 740 comes in three tantalising colours - Moonlight Silver, Twilight Blue and Sunset Red. Olympus have incorporated their BrightCapture Technology into the MJU 740. BrightCapture improves shooting in low-light situations, making the LCD screen brighter and easier to see and improving the picture outcome. The camera has a high resolution of 7.1 megapixels and a higher than average 5x zoom lens (3x zoom being more typical in point and shoot cameras.) Movies are recorded in QuickTime Motion JPEG® with sound. There are 23 scene modes available with the MJU 740: Portrait, Landscape, Landscape with Portrait, Night scene, Night scene with portrait, Sports, Indoor, Candle, Self portrait, Available Light Portrait, Sunset, Fireworks, Museum, Cuisine, Behind Glass, Documents, Auction, Shoot & Select 1, Shoot & Select 2, Beach and Snow, Underwater Wide 1, Underwater Wide 2 and Underwater Macro.
