Olympus MJU 800
Review
of the Olympus MJU 800
The Olympus MJU 800, available in silver and dark blue
in an all-metal weatherproof body, seems a bit pricey compared to the
Olympus MJU 740 and MJU
750. It does have an impressive resolution of 8 megapixels. The 3x
optical zoom and 5x digital zoom are both standard in this class of camera,
but you'll get a higher (5x) optical zoom in the MJU
740 and MJU 750. The MJU 800 has
a 2.5" LCD screen with 215,000 pixels which is a big increase on
the 115,000 pixels found in the MJU 600
and MJU 700. The LCD uses BrightCapture
Technology to give a clearer image in low light. For some reason Olympus
have only put 19 scene modes into the MJU 800 when most of their other
MJU cameras have 23. Sensitivity settings range from ISO 64 - ISO 400,
with ISO 800 and ISO 1600 available in dim lighting modes. Still a very
good camera, if you can find it at a decent price. Otherwise you'd probably
be better looking at the newer MJU 740
and MJU 750.
