of the Samsung Digimax V5
The Samsung Digimax V5 Digital Camera is compact and lightweight. It has 5.1 megapixels which is more than enough for any point and shoot situation. The Schneider Kreuznach lens has a 3x optical zoom and the camera also has 4x digital zoom, giving a combined zoom rating of 12x. The 1.5 inch LCD screen is not the largest on the market but is fine. The camera offers movie recording with sound and a macro for close up shots as close as 5cm. This is a good beginners camera for simple, no fuss photography. It only comes with 32Mb Internal memory, so consider buying a 128Mb or 256Mb card. It does not come with a charger and battery, but does come with a case. Images can be trimmed and resized on the LCD screen without the need to connect to a PC. The brightness level of the LCD screen is also adjustable to ensure images are viewable in any lighting condition. You can review images, thumbnails, slide shows and movie clips with the "Quick Play" feature. You can choose your favourite photo as a personal start page on the V Series cameras.
10 second audio captions can be added to still images, audio recording can accompany movie clips and up to 2 hours of audio alone can be recorded, depending on the capacity of the memory card in use.
The shooting mode dial allows you to choose from multiple shooting modes including easy, program, portrait, night scene, movie clip, voice recording and A/S/M (aperture, shutter, and manual). A 4-way key and OK button lets you navigate the options menu and provides quick access to a variety of features including flash, self-timer and metering. You can save a customized profile with the "My Set" function by selecting up to 9 different camera settings such as image size, quality and ISO. The V5 features single, continuous and auto bracketing shooting modes and supports multiple file formats, including TIFF, JPEG and DPOF for still images, as well as AVI (MJPEG) for movie clips and WAV for audio files.
The Samsung Digimax V5 supports 9 different power sources. The V5 comes with bundled software for viewing, editing and sharing images, as well as a carrying case, USB cable, user selectable NTSC/PAL video cable, applications and software driver CD-ROM and a wrist strap.
