Samsung Digimax
V700
Review
of the Samsung Digimax V700
The
Samsung Digimax V700 is a stylish, compact camera. It has the same generous
7.1 megapixels as the Samsung Digimax
V70 which enables printing up to poser size. Both the Digimax V700
and V70 have 3.0x optical zoom but this camera has a bigger 10x digital
zoom, giving a combined zoom of 30x. Using
the Auto Macro function, the Digimax V700 automatically adjusts shooting
distance and focus from between 4 cm to infinity.
The Digimax V700 also has a large 2.0" LCD screen. It
only comes with 32Mb Secure Digital card, so consider buying a 256Mb or
a 512Mb card. It does come with a charger and battery but not a case.
The
Samsung Digimax V700 provides movie mode with sound. The Digimax V700
supports MPEG-4, the high-compression high-quality movie clip format.
It provides a recording time 3-4 times longer than conventional digital
cameras, which is about 2 hours 10 minutes when using 256Mb memory, making
it a perfect substitute for a camcorder. You can use the Digimax V700
to shoot a movie clip in VGA(640x480) at 30 fps and play it on your TV
at the same high quality it was taken. The Digimax V700 provides a built-in
movie clip editing function that was previously only possible with use
of a PC. This helps the user make better videos by allowing the selection
of a part of a movie clip for saving, during playback. It also allows
you to capture a selected part of a movie clip as a still image during
playback. With continuous video recording, you can pause and resume video
recording any time you want, and merge multiple video files into a single
file.
The
Samsung Digimax V700 also comes with manual picture-taking functions intended
for more advanced users. The camera has detailed focus control with Manual
Focusing. It also enables manual control of exposure using Aperture Priority,
Shutter Priority and Full Manual options. Exposure can be controlled by
the easy-to-use Jog Dial, in conjunction with an AE Lock feature. All
this allows flexible image construction and exposure control based on
the user's preference. The Digimax V700 has Continuous Shooting for serial
shots of fast-moving subjects, AEB to shoot pictures continuously with
slightly different exposures, and AFB to shoot pictures continuously with
slightly different focus.
