Samsung NV10
Review
of the Samsung NV10
The Samsung NV10 packs a high spec camera into a thin
black aluminium body measing only 18.5mm in depth. The camera has a very
high resolution of 10 megapixels, combined with a Schneider-KREUZNACH
3x optical zoom lens, a 5x digital zoom and a 2.5" LCD monitor. The
menu is navigated quickly using the Smart Touch user interface. The NV10
has a built-in pop-up flash located on top of the camera right above the
lens. This has improved light diffusion angles compared with the usual
position of flashes in point and shoot cameras which is in the top corner.
The NV10 uses Advanced Shake Reduction technology to
reduce the effects of camera shake in lower light conditions. Another
feature designed to assist with taking clear pictures in low light is
the automatic sensitivity adjustment up to ISO 1000.
In the NV series Samsung have upgraded their photo album
feature to the new Photo Gallery function. The new User Interface lets
you go directly to the album. Pictures are grouped and stored by date
for easier access.
The camera can be recharged using a cradle or a 24 pin
USB cable, as well as by using a detachable cable.
The NV series supports MPEG-4 VGA (640x480, 30fps) and
TVD (720x480, 20fps - NV3) size for enhanced video shooting. You can also
edit your movies on the camera itself.
There are 11 scene modes provided with the NV10: Night
Scene, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Text Recognition, Sunset, Dawn,
Backlight, Fireworks, Beach and Snow.

of the Samsung NV10 include:
- 10.1 Megapixels
- 3x Optical Zoom
- 5x Digital Zoom
- Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR)
- “Smart Touch” User Interface
- Large 2.5" TFT LCD

My first digital camera - backing up my film (rangefinder). Paper handbook
good. Useability high - took a few hours to work out how to use effectively.
Appears to take pretty good pictures, only some viewed on PC. I like the
GUI and level of control it offers. In apperture priority mode, appears
to use only two settings f2.8 and f7.1 - pity. In other modes full range
of f numbers seen. I like data displayed on screen during recording and
play back - better than other compacts I have seen. I like ability to
select data viewed. Pleased with product. It meets my requirement for
simplicity, small size and performance.

Features on this camera are like those of an SLR. This camera alows me
to adjust the ISO, Aperature and exposure settings as well as many other
features. I can take B/W pics and more. The camera seem to shut off by
itself on ocassion. not sure why. plan to call samsung to find out. The
video quality is very good alowing me to shoot XVID mpeg 4 movies that
are better than broadcasrt quality at 640 by 480. I think the camera is
a bit buggi and a software upgrade from Samsung these issues would be
resolved. The camera is very usable even with the bugs. An example of
a bug would be that the camera would not take pics at 10 mega pixels in
negative mode( that is shooting the pic as a negative) however this worked
with 7 MPIX. the B/w and SEPIA settings worked fine at 10 MPIX.
