Sony DSC-S40
Cyber-shot
Review
of the Sony DSC-S40 Cyber-shot
The Sony
DSC-S40 Cyber-shot digital camera is the first in Sony's new "S"
range of entry-level point and shoot cameras. Despite being aimed at the
beginners market, it comes with a very respectable 4.1 megapixels and
a 3x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens. The LCD screen, however, is only 1.5"
which is modest in today's market.
White Balance
options are Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent and Incandescent, whilst
the scene selection modes are Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap,
Landscape, Beach, Snow and Candle.
The software
included with the camera is Picture Package, PIXELA ImageMixer and USB
Driver. The camera is PictBridge compatible which means you can print
to a PictBridge compatible printer without the need for a computer.

My camera was 18 months old ,my husband switched it on and it went bang.I
think this is very poor for a camera of that age.

I've had my camera for 2 months and the LCD screen stopped working 3 weeks
ago, but it was after the warranty ran out. WATCH OUT- You will get screwed.

repair at the store to be told it was the batteries which I did try before
obviously- I left unconvinced although the camera is working again for
now!

I had the camera for about 30 days when it began to malfunction. It would
only playback pictures, and would shut down when ever I tried to take
new pics. I tried new batteries, memory, etc with no results. I called
DELL about a return, but it was after their 21 day warranty, so I was
out of luck and left with a new, yet non-functional camera. Watch out.
