Sony DSC-W70
Cyber-shot
Review
of the Sony DSC-W70 Cyber-shot
The Sony
DSC-W70 Cyber-Shot is a slim (88.9 x 57.1 x 22.9mm) aluminium digital
camera with 7.2 megapixels which is very high. The camera has a Carl Zeiss
Vario-Tessar lens with 3x optical zoom. The digital zoom ratio is 3x.
Both the optical zoom and the digital zoom ratios are standard for this
type of point and shoot camera. The camera has a good sized 2.5" TFT LCD
monitor viewable in bright light. The field of view of the LCD screen
is 100%. For times when the LCD screen may be difficult to view there
is an optical viewfinder for framing images.
The camera
has an "Anti-blur" ISO1000 high sensitivity setting. The Hand Shake Alert
feature will help prevent blurring due to camera shake and the NR Slow
Shutter function removes noise from the image when taking pictures with
a very slow shutter speed, for example of 10 seconds or more. The camera
has a histogram indication feature that helps you set the right exposure
by giving accurate information about the lighting conditions. An exposure
warning indicator will let you know if the exposure level is insufficient
for the picture you are about to take. The scene selections available
are Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow and
High Sensitivity.
The camera
has 58MB of internal memory which can be augmented with either a Memory
Stick DUO or Memory Stick PRO DUO. Recording formats are JPEG and MPEG1.
Movies are recorded in MPEG VX Fine with audio. There is a 16:9 Mode for
wide screen TV viewing.
The camera
uses a USB 2.0 high speed transfer connection and is PictBridge compatible
meaning that it will print directly to any PictBridge printer without
the need for a PC.
The LCD
menu operates in 15 languages - English, French, German, Italian, Spanish,
Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Polish,
Hungarian and Czech. The camera is supplied with Cyber-shot Viewer software
and a USB Driver. Other included accessories are a rechargeble battery(NP-BG1),
battery charger (BC-CSG), power code, multi cable and wrist strap.
Overall,
the Sony DSC-W70 is a great looking, very well specified camera at a good
price.

Considerably better than Casio Exilim EX-Z600 and on a par with Canon
Ixus 750. Sharp Carl Zeiss Lens, fast focus, Compact, Decent 2 1/2 Inch
Screen, Looks nice too!. Recommended.
