Sony DSLR-A100
Review
of the Sony DSLR-A100
The DSLR-A100 is Sony's first foray into the digital
SLR camera market and is a very affordable option as far as SLRs go. The
camera shares elements of Konica Minolta and Sony. Sony's expertise is
in the CCD sensor, image processor and LCD screen. The lens mount is identical
to the Konica Minolta A-type bayonet mount and is therefore compatible
with Konica Minolta A-type lenses. Sony have also taken Konica Minolta's
Anti-Shake technology and renamed it Super SteadyShot. Super SteadyShot
enables high sensitivity settings of up to ISO 1600. To prevent build
up of dust inside the camera, there is an anti-static coating on the low-pass
filter in front of the CCD. The camera also has an anti-dust vibration
feature that uses the camera's CCD shift system to remove dust when the
camera is powered off. Continuous shooting is available at 3 frames per
second until the memory card is full. Sony are clearly trying to make
advanced photography available to a wider market.
